I have finished Sherlock Holmes Volume 1. To my and maybe all your surprise, now the interesting part of this novel to me is not the scientific deduction by Holmes, but is the sparkles of humanity. In the third part of Volume 1, there are many cases were not reported to the official police, in order to avoid public scandal and gossips. Holmes was regularly in his judgement protecting his client against the British law. I am not encouraging that the law should not be respected, but we should learn the humanity and sympathy lied deep down those stories.
